Stephen Fern
I read law at Kings College London, specialising in Tax before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in London in 1989.
I realised I wanted to be an entrepreneur after a period working on Corporate Recovery, establishing my first business in 1992. OTC built a worldwide operation in financial and wealth education and was sold to BPP plc in 1999.
My specialist area was in advising the advisors of the superwealthy but in 2003 I created the G9, a not for profit Think Tank for the Family Office Sector (long before everyone talked about Family offices!) guiding families of significant wealth, and their advisors, into developing an understanding of fulfilment; a life of happiness spent applying your own unique skills to a purpose that is important to you.
Working mostly on purpose driven missions, I have enjoyed the privilege of focussing my efforts on things that have a true meaning for me both personally and professionally; raising a family of 9 children (7 girls and 2 boys) whilst travelling extensively and meeting with some of the worlds most inspirational people.
I have experienced life in full, from the pain of losing a child to watching my family achieve success in their chosen fields, enjoyed the highs and lows of a life in business and the complete happiness that comes from a childhood in the 70’s, a wild city life in the 80s and the blissful existence of living in a beautiful island with my family for the last 30+ years, waking up every morning to a life that I love.
Perhaps the greatest lesson I have learnt in the 60 years of my life on this earth is that we only have one body, one life and one planet …and we need to learn to look after them all.
And that is what I write about in my blog.
